The Little Man

A few nights ago I had a really bad dream. When I woke up I went to check on the boys and then returned to bed. I listened to all the popping, cracking, squeaking noises the house makes until I really freaked myself out. Finally, when I couldn't stand it anymore, I snuggled up to Mark and woke him up. "Mark," I said. "I'm really scared."

Mark: "Do you want me to check on the kids?"
Shana: "No, I already did."
Mark: "Do you want me to check Hunter's blood?"
Shana: "No."
Mark: "Sorry you're scared."

Then, Mark rolled over to his side of the bed, which in a King is quite a ways away, and started snoring really loud. Hmmph! At least he drowned out the popping and squeaking noises for me. The next morning, Hunter meandered in and cuddled up next to me in bed. When Mark woke up I told him about my bad dream and how he had reacted. Mark didn't remember any of it--which explains why he didn't snug me and make me feel safer during the night--he was still asleep.

So. . . today Mark left for a little business trip and left me to sleep alone for a couple of nights. Of course, whimp that I am, I invited Kathy to come spend the night and keep me safe. Anyway, as I tucked the boys in tonight, Hunter grabbed my hand and complained that it was really cold. I explained that that's what happened when Daddy went away because Daddy is the one that keeps me warm and when he's gone I get all cold and shivery. "But," I said, "Don't worry. Maybe I'll just climb up in bed with you tonight and you can keep me warm." Hunter then said, "Yeah and then I'll roll over and start snoring really loud." Ha! Ha! Ha!

First off, Hunter made a funny and that means he's really growing up and developing that smartie pants humor that is so much like his Daddy's. Second, in his head he was thinking that was just the way he'd make me feel at home, way up there in his top bunk. He laughed and laughed about his little joke until I climbed up in bed with him. He snuggled right up to me and then said, "I was just joking about the snoring part, Mommy." And that means he loves me! And I love him! What a little man he's growing up to be.

I love your new site. Chris is going to hate me but I think I want to change my site again. :) I hope my little Jorge grows up to be a lot like Hunter and love me the way Hunter loves you. I can't believe Hunter is cracking jokes, and funny ones too!

UGH... the hubby on business trips is the worst. I am still not so happy when Mike goes. The noises in the house always seem to be a bit louder when you are the only one there and the kids are all asleep. I admit to being a whip to as I usually keep all the kids in my room when he is gone on business. :)

Hunter is so dang precious. Don't know why you worry about Mark going away when you have three capable little men there to take care of you. ;-) Love you, Shan!
