A Day at the Beach

We've been blessed with fabulous weather for spring break so today we hit the beach. I had Megan on loan from Chris, so I figured with the extra two hands I could manage all four boys and a day in the sun and sand. The boys took off running and played hard until it was time to go home. Caleb was intrigued by the sand and only ate a couple of handfuls. We all managed to get a bit sunburned, but nothing so fierce we won't be able to sleep tonight. Of course, the whole time we were there all I could think about was the fact that next year we probably won't be at the beach much. . . no, not much at all and then, as I thought about the poor big boys and how much they'll die without the beach, I started wondering how much two mother's helpers would cost me. And a maid. And a cook. And a chauffer. And. . . I finally concluded a summer spent with the backyard kiddie pool and slip-n-slide was good enough for me when I was eight and it will most certainly have to be good enough for them next summer.

Such fun! And that Caleb...what a cutie! Mark will make a few runs to the beach with you next summer, I'm sure of it! Go on Saturdays and late afternoons. You can sit with the three babies while Mark runs wild with the three bigger boys. You can do it! Mom

That picture of Caleb in the frog chair is just priceless. And Noah sitting there so suave and cool, and Denver so truimphant--just makes me want to hug them all!

Face it, you've clearly mastered the art/science of having adorably perfect kids, and that's why they're lining up at the door in heaven to bust through to your family. Lucky kids!

How fun to be able to spend a day at the beach!
I remember summer days in the backyard with hose, daddy-rigged slip-n-slide, and a few buckets...they were so much fun! You have so many great ideas and activities, your kids will have a great time,I'm sure of that.

Oh, you'll go to the beach next summer. You'll borrow Meg a couple days a week, and I'll come down on weekends, and Mel will tag along too.

Glad you had a good day yesterday in the sun. I'm sooooo jealous.

Your office-dwelling sister...

Yeah, you're enjoying the beach and we are... building snow men! Still! Actually it got up to 60 and all of the snow is almost gone. I wish we had a beach nearby!!! Enjoy it this summer and think of me, in Idaho...

I am so impressed with Caleb's sitting abilities. Brendan won't stay still long enough to master it! We've started having some nice days and I would LOVE to have a beach. Perhaps this year we'll venture out to Chicago and play in Lake Michigan. If you can pull it off with your four rambunctious boys, I can probably do it with my crew too!
