Guessing Game

I saw the doctor today. The babies seem to be doing well and the doctor said it's going to be pretty tricky scanning them on Friday because they are so wiggly. Both Mark and I have felt them moving--Baby Left seems to be more fiesty than Baby Right, but they have both become quite active. Anyway, after the doctor scanned their heart rates I started second guessing my original prediction that I was having identical twin boys. Here's why: one heartbeat was 141 bpm and the other was 165 bpm. Now all along I've been told that boys' hearts beat slower (in the 140's) and girls' hearts beat faster (160's). All of my boys have been in the 140's. I realize this is an Old Wive's Tale, but just the fact that the heart rates differ makes me wonder if their gender differs as well. Of course I made the mistake of saying out loud to too many people that my worst nightmare is having one boy and one girl because first, I would feel sorry for her and second, I'm afraid of the certain "Princess Mode" that would result in six boys getting all mushy over one wee lassy. And, I've been quite happy blaming this twin pregnancy on Mark and his family history of twins. I don't like the thought of having to admit that we're having two babies because of me.

Anyway, Mark and I are having fun hearing what everyone thinks we're having and of course, while making your guesses we want you to have as much current information as possible. So, with this new set of facts I'm wondering, has anyone else changed their minds and should we put an end to all of this guessing on Friday and find out what we're having? I know we just put the poll up recently, but Mark wants to know who's guessing what. So if you don't mind--will you all please guess again, only this time in our comments. Happy guessing!

I want you to find out! I am dying!!! I think it will be 2 boys. The reason is because that seems to be the trend nowadays. No reflection on you guys...

Well, I guessed identical boys, although there was no real reason behind it...it's just what you guys seem to have!
Thinking about the other "second generation" twins I think 2 sets are fraternal and one set identical. And yours will be...? I say stick to your guns and don't find out 'til delivery what you're having. Just think how exciting it will be!
Or maybe just find out on Friday !)
I'm glad I don't have to make the decision!

I guessed identical twin girls, but based on your heart rate info I'm changing to a boy and a girl. The heart rate thing was accuate for Emily, Dani and Evan. So even if its an old wives tale, I consider it 75% accurate!

I voted 2 boys, 3 or 4 times. But, I am biased, and nostalgic.

I guessed on your poll that one would be a girl and one would be a boy. The heart beat thing was the same for Paige as it was for the boys so...
Find out so that we can all start spoiling you, regardless of the outcome! Good luck!

I voted identical twin boys on your poll because mainly family history. Even so the heartrates are so different, I am going to stick with my original guess because well, I know several online friends who have or are having twins and 2 sets of boy/girl fraternal twins, 3 sets of 2 boys (not yet born so don't know if they are fraternal/identical), and one set of 2 girls (also unborn as of yet) and the heartbeats on the same sex groups are just as spread as yours are. I'm curious what you are having but I can wait to find out at their birth as easily as now. My sister waited til the birth of her son to find out and really enjoyed everyone's guessing games while she was preggo and I have thought that should Paul and I ever successfully procreate one or more of our own, that I too would like to wait to find out. Good luck with your decision! d

I guessed identical girls, mostly because that is my wish for you. Having a girl is so much fun, two at once might be twice as fun. (plus two girls could better stand their own against 4 brothers.) But that heartbeat info is interesting--one of each sounds fine, too. PLEASE find out ASAP! I can't stand the suspense!

I guessed twin boys. But now I'm second-guessing my guess. My other vote is for you to find out! (maybe) :)

Oh yeah, I guessed identical too.

I voted for a boy and a girl. Considering the kind of rampant fertility in our family, I figured it was probably all your fault anyway. =0D

Shana

I can't make a guess cuz I am always wrong - my gut feelings are never right. But I am dying to find out!! I really really hope you are having at least one girl. Having a princess wouldn't be soo bad.

Brittney

I guessed identical girls. Mostly I just hope you have some girls in your clam. Girls are fun. (Not that boys are not fun.) Plus I also thought it would be nice to have two girls so they wouldn't be so out numbered. (Jeffrey is so out numbered in our house. I feel a little bad for him sometimes.) Also, I wouldn't mind if you found out the gender this week. But I guess suspence is a little fun sometimes.

I have no stong vibes on this issue...none. I must †ell you, though, that Chris is supposed to be a boy because her heart rate was so slow. I wouldn't place too much credence on the heart rate. I'll stick with my identical boys. But in my heart...I'm hoping one is a girl!!! Mom

There was a heart-rate difference between the girls and Zach so I already suspected he was a boy.

Maybe one just has a slower metabloism not all twins are born at identical weights! (Grandma maybe Chris had a slower metabolism-that's all)

I hope you will NOT find out until you deliver! MAKE THEM ALL WAIT! =)

You know my thoughts!!!
DEFINATLY fraternal & i have thought all along boy/girl! hehe!! have fun with that one!!! Come on over some day if you wanna see a "princess" in action!
sam & her TOTALLY NOT IDENTICAL twins!!!

If you can stand the suspense, we'll just have to. But if you crack, you really have to let us know! I'm positive you're having two beautiful, cute-head babies ('cause that's all you guys seem to make, besides chickens, but that's slightly different). I'm siding with the boy plus girl crowd.

We are still voting for two darling babies and as easy of a pregnancy as one can have with twins. We hope you will let us know if you do decide to let them tell you tomorrow. Good luck! Denise

So do you know yet? I was a little slow responding to the poll, but I voted for identical girls--for the hold-their-own-against-four-brothers reasons stated by others above. Plus, it'd be fun to have TWO princesses. But whatever kind you got cookin' in there, I sure am excited for you!

I'm also slow in guessing but I haven't heard anything yet. I first wanted to guess identical girls, mostly cause I know that Shana wants a girl and I want them to be identical. BUT when I went to vote on your poll, I thought girls but clicked on the boys and didn't realize what I did until it was too late! And every time I think about you guys having twins, boys just pop into my head. I have to remind myself that I want you to have GIRLS!
