They Have Names

For those who have been wondering, we've named the twins. We picked their names not too long after we learned we were having twins but toyed with several other names, including a few girlie ones, until we knew for sure what we had. Baby A (who was Baby B in utero and pushed his way to first in line) is Jericho Pearson Henrichsen. I suggested Jericho Pearson to Mark, half joking, half trying to be original and Mark immediately fell in love with the name. He reminded me of his Uncle Gerry Pearson who had recently passed away and liked the thought of naming one of our boys after him. Then, at Reunion we learned from Aunt Sharon that Gerry had been lovingly called Jericho by his mother and Co-co by his sister. After that discovery, we knew one of the twins would definitely be Jericho. And yesterday, after we discussed names one last time, we settled on Baby B's name--Justus William Henrichsen. We toyed with Joshua (which the three oldest boys really wanted so they could sing "Joshua fit the battle with Jericho"), Jacob, Jordan and Jonah but finally decided on Justus meaning "righteous." So, together the twins' names will remind us that the righteous will be led to the promised land someday. And the middle names--now we have at least one name from each of our family roots: Denver Marcus is Copen, Jericho Pearson is obviously Pearson, William comes from the Stout side, and Allen (Caleb's middle name) is Henrichsen.

What great names!!! The only thing we are lacking is being close enough to hold them and cuddle them and smell them and touch their soft, soft skin. This grandma and grandpa could hardly ask for more in one week - three grand children all beginning with the letter J. I wonder if people will think that they are triplets when they get together? Hummmm? We love you all dearly! Daddy-A & SPH-2

I thought you might like to know that my father Allan John Pearson, once suggested that all of our children (and Sharon and Roy's too) should have Pearson for the middle name. We weren't completely obedient, obviously, but I'm sure he's thrilled to have Pearson appearing in the next generation. Also, Papa (Allen Vernon Henrichsen) once offered bribe money if we would have twins (even for money, we couldn't do it). So he too is definitely excited with Jerico and Justus (and Jerica as well, I'm sure). sph1

Welcome, welcome Jerico and Justus! What a wonderful thing to give your children a tie to their ancestors. Have fun holding and snuggling and loving those cute little (and bigger) boys!

I love both names, and I love the spelling of Justus. Cool! You guys did a fine job all around!

Nice names Shana and Mark. I especially like that they start with "J". I must say I have always been very fond of that letter. I love that the names are meaningful and also link them with their ancestory. Nadine and I have discussed the same with our twins names, but I think I will wait for a big reveal too.

Well worth the wait! What great names! I think it's so cute that the older boys got into the discussion. And even if there won't be any epic battles between Joshua and Jericho, I'm pretty sure Justus can hold his own. ;)

Wonderful names! Congratulations again!

Those are really cool names! And I am glad you waited to tell us, because it was thrilling to check back every few hours to see if you had named them yet. And I love that you named them for ancestors. Caroline and Hilton are named for people in our family and really get a kick out of it, now that they are older.

I love those names! Thanks for sharing the meaning behind them!
