It's All About What I Wear

I've got poop on my left sleeve and pee on my right hip. There's syrup across my belly and rain all down my back. And I've only had this shirt on for a record breaking one hour. I should probably put on a clean shirt but the laundry lady in me refuses to add to the pile. So I'll wear it all day, the poop and the pee and the syrup across my belly and add to it throughout the day until I'm covered in dirt and formula, blood and spit and boogers, the dirt from someone's face because we don't have a washcloth handy, Caleb's lunch and the twins' dinner, 'til my armpits are drenched in sweat and then. . . maybe then if I'm not out cold on the couch in complete exhaustion I'll put on a semi-clean pajama shirt.

The way you started out, I thought you were writing a witty poem!

Funny that you would mention this today. As I stepped out of the car to unload the kids I was thinking ugh, I need to get myself more dressed up to do this. I had my sweats, stained shirt and berkonsocks on. But then as I was pulling out of the parking lot I really looked at the other moms, some with the hair not brushed, some wearing shorts and wrinkled shirts and some still in slippers and I though, this is a right of passage for all of us Mommies that have to get kids going in the morning and I am proud to be part of the club. Good luck, if it gets stained enough you will have to buy a new shirt now and then and that is not so bad...right? Denise

Way to be efficient! Way to save on water and detergent! Way to save time! The next shirt would just get dirty too.

Yep. I'm so with you on not wanting to add to the laundry pile! With no dryer, I am sending my kids to school wearing clothes that are well, less than pristine.

Who cares?! Right?

Lovely picture you created there. Motherhood...not quite you thought it would be, eh? Just wait till all those stinky slimy kids grow up and start getting mad at you! You've only just BEGUN the amazing and sometimes yucky journey.

Still...I wouldn't trade or give-up a one of you.

Shana,
I went to your blog from Devanie's and I have loved your little insights. I feel like I'm easedropping, so now you know- I'm WATCHING:). One of my goals as a mom comes from Marjorie Hinkley, to go to the pearly gates with dirt under my fingernails, and a shirt just like yours knowing I was doing what really mattered!
Your family is adorable and you are amazing!
